What is Psychotherapy?

It is a longer term approach to addressing ‘deeper’ issues originating from past experiences that are affecting someone’s present life. This involves a trusting relationship between the person and the psychotherapist. Treatment can range from weeks to several years. Psychotherapy is often used to deal with psychological difficulties that have built up over a number of years.

Psychotherapy deals with unconscious processes and transference. It involves awareness of how thoughts, feelings and behaviours are transferred from past experiences into present relationships Psychotherapy also involves working with the relationship between the client and therapist.
